Giulia holds a BSc in physics and in philosophy delivered by Sciences Sorbonne Université, and Sorbonne Université, in Paris, France, in the framework of a bilateral agreement between the two universities. During her bachelor she had the opportunity to spend nine months at UCL, in London, with the help of an Erasmus fellowship. She then joined a Franco-Italian master degree in Physics of Complex Systems, and graduated at Politecnico di Torino, Italy and Sciences Sorbonne Université, in Paris. During her master thesis at LPENS of ENS in Paris, she discovered her interest in applying Physics and mathematical tools to health-related topics while working on the role of stochasticity in a bi-phase nonlinear population dynamics model for the growth of cancer cells.
She is a PhD student in the “Mathematics in Natural, Social and Life Sciences” department of Gran Sasso Science Institute, in Italy. Her PhD project focuses on the interplay between social and epidemic phenomena on complex network and is supervised by Claudio Castellano in collaboration with Vittoria Colizza and Eugenio Valdano.
