Magdalena obtained her Bachelor’s (2018) and integrated Master’s (2019) certifications from the University of Oxford. In 2018 she won a grant from the Dutch institute of Public Health and the Environment in order to research waning influenza vaccine effectiveness under the supervision of Dr Jantien Backer. Then, her Master thesis was on designing a model similar to those in the RAPIDD Ebola Forecasting Challenge. In 2019 the University of Oxford awarded her a Laidlaw Scholarship for leadership and research to join the EPIcx lab during the summer under the supervision of Dr Vittoria Colizza.
In the lab Magdalena works on the connection between models of disease spread over realistic population networks and over the mathematical ‘fully-mixed’ society.
