![]() Today Michele Tizzoni defended his PhD thesis at the Politecnico University of Turin and successfully obtained the PhD degree in Physics with the congratulations of an impressed jury. Michele presented his research work conducted during the PhD program and focusing on understanding human mobility and its role on the spread of influenza – more specifically, on the analysis of human mobility datasets obtained from different sources, on the development of theoretical models for epidemic spreading to integrate and understand the role of heterogeneities found in real systems, and on the assessment of the predictions made in real time for the 2009 H1N1 pandemic with the model GLEaM.
