Congratulations Paolo!
Today Paolo Bajardi defended his PhD thesis at the University of Marseille and successfully obtained the PhD degree in Physics with the congratulations of an impressed jury. Paolo presented his research work conducted during the PhD program and focused on two major directions of research – GLEaM and the modeling of influenza, and the study and modeling of livestock trade movements and new techniques to optimize surveillance systems for animal infectious diseases, conducted in collaboration with Alain Barrat at the CNRS and University of Marseille and the Istituto Zooprofilattico Abruzzo-Molise in Italy. Congratulations Paolo! nov 22-23: kick-off meeting of the new EC funded project PREDEMICS coordinated by the Institut Pasteur. 17 partners from all over europe with expertise in modeling, gene sequencing, data collection, training, virology, phylogenetics, and others met at the Institut Pasteur to start working on the study of the key factors leading to the emergence of new viruses.
Read more about the project on the grants page. ![]() Vittoria Colizza participated to an epidemic modelers meeting organized by the ECDC aimed at presenting the modeling research conducted in europe, discussing perspectives, and evaluating possible avenues to create a EU network of modelers. Chiara will visit U707 starting tomorrow, and will present a seminar on nov 21 at the monday seminar series of the Unit.
