Michele Tizzoni has been awarded a bursary by the ASSYST Project to attend the European Conference on Complex Systems 2011, that has taken place in Wien, September 12-16. The conference is one of the most important annual events in Complex Systems Science and aims to provide a broad forum for the diverse communities engaged in Complex Systems research, ranging from the Life Sciences to Physics, from Computer Science to Social Science, from Mathematics to Origin of Life, and from Networks to Policy Implications.
Michele contributed to the conference with an oral presentation titled "GLEaM, a global stochastic model for influenza epidemics: its application to the A/H1N1 pandemic", where he focused on the assessment of the GLEaM model predictions through the comparison between the simulated scenarios and the observed pandemic activity during the 2009-2010 fall/winter wave.
